School Arrivals and Dismissal Procedures
Drop Offs and Arrivals:
Scholars will be randomly chosen for temperature checks prior to entering the school. They will not be permitted inside the building before 8:30 am.
Parents will drop scholars off at one of four entrances:
1. Main entrance
2. Entrance closest to the auditorium
3. Entrance near the small play area
4. Entrance near the large schoolyard.
*Parents will not be allowed to walk scholars to their classrooms through the building.
Late arrivals (after 8:40) will enter the school via the main entrance.
Following 9am, guardians will need to call ahead to sign their child in, with a safety agent or support staff meeting them at a designated drop off location.
Mild Weather Conditions:
3K will be dismissed from their classroom and Pre-K will dismiss from the movement room.
All other scholars (K-5) will be dismissed from the schoolyard. On inclement weather days, all students will remain in their classrooms and upon notification that a parent has arrived, the children will be escorted to meet their parents at the exit.
Grades 3K - 2 will be dismissed at 1:45 PM.
Grades 3 - 5 will be dismissed at 2:00 PM.
*Please note the staggered times of dismissal for grades 3K - 5. Social distance will be observed during dismissal.
Inclement Weather Conditions:
Dismissal will be supported by classroom teachers on days with inclement weather. If there is inclement weather scholars will be dismissed from their classrooms. Younger scholars will be escorted to ensure their safety. Parents will arrive at designated times by grade to pick up their scholars.
Families will need to sign scholar out via iPad system; teachers will be alerted and send scholars down with dismissal agent.
Scholars will be shuttled down to designated pick up areas by their grade dismissal agent.
3K and PreK:
Parents will sign out scholars at a designated area in their classrooms.
Pre-K will be dismissed from the Movement room on the first floor.
Scholars taking the bus will be dismissed from the auditorium regardless of weather, seated with social distance in mind.
Dismissal and busing will follow the staggered dismissal schedule (k-2 at 1:45 pm; 3-5 at 2:00 pm).
Scholars being picked up for daycare programs will be dismissed from the auditorium regardless of weather, seated with social distance in mind. Dismissal for these scholars will follow the staggered dismissal schedule:

3-5 at 2:00 pm
Scholars Who Walk Home:
Guardians for scholars that walk home must submit a signed form in the beginning of the year allowing their child to walk home following dismissal.
These scholars will follow the staggered dismissal schedule (k-2 at 1:45 pm; 3-5 at 2:00pm), with special consideration for families with children who walk home together. In this case, all scholars will be dismissed to walk home at 2:00 pm. Please be aware that this policy may change to account for unforeseen issues.
COVID Safety Guidelines and Procedures
Safety Requirements for Students, Families, and Staff:
PPE: Upon arrival all scholars, staff and community members must wear a face mask or shield and must use the hand sanitizer machine by the main entrance to properly disinfect their hands. Masks will be readily available for individuals who need them. All face masks must be worn whenever social distancing protocols cannot be followed (hallways, small group instruction, bathroom, recess, etc.) One mask per individual at all times, masks should never be shared. All common areas and classrooms will have hand sanitizers and wipes available for use by scholars during school hours.
Social Distancing: Social distancing also called “physical distancing” is defined as keeping a 6 ft space between yourself and others. Due to social distancing guidelines, we can not accommodate large gatherings of any kind both inside and outside the school building. In order to maintain social distancing, doors will open at 8:20 am. Grab and go breakfast will be available at 8:20am near the main office to be taken to the classrooms. Scholars who must arrive before 8:20 am will be socially distanced outside by using the ground markers and posted signs. For each scholar’s safety, please adhere to the markings and posted signs. There will be no more than 9-13 individuals in any classroom and scholars will be seated at least 6 feet apart. There will markings on the floor of the hallways to remind scholars of social distancing.
Health Checks: All staff will observe scholars and other staff members for signs of illness. This includes fever/chills, shortness of breath, cough/difficulty breathing, fatigue, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, flushed cheeks, frequent use of the bathroom and irritability. If this occurs, scholars or staff members will be sent to the nurse for a medical assessment.
Healthy Hygiene Practices: In order to keep every school community member safe we must stay home if not feeling well, cover our nose and mouth with an acceptable face covering when unable to maintain social distancing, properly store and discard PPE when necessary, adhere to social distancing instruction, report symptoms of, or exposure to, COVID-19, follow hand hygiene guidelines and follow respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette. School nurses and teachers will reinforce these expectations throughout the school year.
Hand Hygiene: Scholars and staff must practice good hand hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. At a minimum scholars and staff should wash/sanitize their hands upon entering the building, upon entering each classroom, before and after using shared objects, before and after breakfast, snacks and lunch, after using the bathroom, after sharing spaces or surfaces, after sneezing, wiping or blowing nose, or coughing into hands, upon entering the building from recess/outdoor play and anytime hands are visibly soiled.
Management of Ill Persons: Scholars and staff with symptoms of illness must be sent to the health office (nurse) for assessment. Scholars or staff suspected of having COVID-19, will be isolated in a room or area separate from others with a supervising adult present utilizing appropriate PPE while they are awaiting transport home. This room will not be the nurse’s office and will be located on the first floor. This area or any area used by the sick person will not be used again until proper cleaning and disinfecting has taken place. Windows and doors will be open to increase air circulation in areas where sick staff and scholars are housed.
Returning to School After Illness: Schools must follow CDC guidance for allowing a scholar or staff member to return to school after exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. If a person is not diagnosed with COVID-19 by a health care provider, they can return to school:
- Once there is no fever, without the use of fever reducing medicines, and they have felt well for 24 hours.
- If they have been diagnosed with another condition and have a health care provider written note stating they are cleared to return to school.
- If any scholar or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they must stay home for at least 10 days after first symptoms appear. In addition, they can return after 3 days of no fever, no cough or shortness of breath.
Cleaning and Disinfecting: The school will be disinfected with USEPA- approved disinfectants against COVID-19. There will be frequent disinfection of surfaces and objects touched by multiple people such as sinks, tables, doorknobs, keyboards, toilets, restrooms, main office, phones, etc.). Students will not be present when disinfectants are used.
