Happy Women's History Month!
Happy Women’s History Month,
This month we recognize the achievements of women like Mary McLeod Bethune, Malala Yousafzai, Helen Keller, and Michelle Obama. For 2025, the theme is “Moving Forward Together,” spotlighting “women educating and inspiring generations.” This theme is meant to highlight and support women who have dedicated their lives to education, mentorship and leadership to shape the minds and futures of all generations. The women in our school community play a significant role in the fight to ensure that everyone has access to the same treatment, opportunities and advancement. We will honor their contributions throughout the month.
The Summer Rising application process is open on March 4, 2025. Applications will be submitted using your NYC MySchools account. Summer Rising is free and available to all NYC students in grades K-8, pending seat availability. Please note that applications are not on a first come first serve basis. Families have until March 28th, 2025 to complete the application. You can go to the website to get information and apply HERE.
BLES will NOT be hosting the K-2 Success for All or any other program this summer. Please complete the Summer Rising application as soon as possible, if you are interested in summer programming for your child.
Virtual Parent Teacher conferences will take place on the afternoon and evening of Thursday March 6th. Scholars will NOT be in attendance on this day. Please reach out to your child’s teacher for further details about these conferences.
This month we will have an Attendance Surprise Surprise event to keep our attendance percentages high. Send your scholar to school every day so he/she won’t miss it.
Please don’t forget to take a few minutes if you haven’t already done so, to complete the annual School survey. Instructions are HERE.
It is projected that by the end of the month our camera installation will be completed. Cameras have been placed on the outside and inside (in stairwells and hallways) of the school building. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Knights.
