Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School Mission Statement

At Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School, scholars will be empowered to have choice in how they learn and voice in what they learn. We will provide innovative, individualized instruction that addresses scholar's unique learning styles, cultivates, independent thought, promotes the building of character and enables students to contribute their ideas locally and globally . The Brooklyn Landmark experience  will guide our scholars as they develop their sense of identity and purpose in this world.  We will comprehensively develop citizens who will be decision makers in tomorrow's society.  The Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School scholars will inspire greatness in others, allow their voices to be heard worldwide and create change through their actions and endeavors.  By giving our scholars a choice in how they learn and a voice in what they learn, we are building the foundation of critical thinkers that is needed in the best colleges and the 21st Century workplace.

Message from BLES Administration

  • Happy April!

    Happy April, Families!

April is National Poetry Month. Our school community will be reading, writing and sharing various poems. If you can, spend some time this month reading your favorite poems & rhymes with your children. Try writing poems together about some of your favorite people, places or things! We will be collecting poems for our Poe-Tree on the first floor.

While the entire month of April is World Autism Month, World Autism Awareness day is Wednesday April 2nd. This year’s theme for World Autism Awareness Month is “Celebrate Differences.” It encourages us to see each person as unique, with differences that should be celebrated.

This month our 3rd-5th grade scholars will take the New York State ELA exam. Grade 4 scholars will take the Computer Based Test (CBT) on April 23rd and 24th. Scholars in grade 3 will take their paper based test on April 29th and 30th. Grade 5 scholars will take their CBT on April 29th and 30th.

To further prepare scholars for these assessments, we are offering a 2-hour virtual Spring Break Academy for scholars in grades 3-5. If you have any questions or concerns about Spring Break Academy or the upcoming state exams, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Our overall attendance is holding steady at 92%. Remember, we are looking for each grade to be at 90% or higher. Here are our percentages by grade levels:

    3K/PreK- 92%

    Kindergarten- 89%

    First grade- 92%

    Second grade- 93%

    Third grade- 92%

    Fourth grade- 91%

    Fifth grade- 92%

The deadline to take the 2025 NYC School Survey has been extended from April 4 to April 11.  Families, you can access the survey by logging into your child’s NYCSA. You can also complete the survey by logging into NYCSchoolSurvey.org. You will need your child’s nine digit OSIS number. Please reach out to Parent Coordinator Watson at dwatson@brooklynlandmark.org for more details. Our current survey response rate for families is very low. It is only 33.1%. If you haven’t completed the survey yet, please try to do it before April 11th.
