Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School Mission Statement

At Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School, scholars will be empowered to have choice in how they learn and voice in what they learn. We will provide innovative, individualized instruction that addresses scholar's unique learning styles, cultivates, independent thought, promotes the building of character and enables students to contribute their ideas locally and globally . The Brooklyn Landmark experience  will guide our scholars as they develop their sense of identity and purpose in this world.  We will comprehensively develop citizens who will be decision makers in tomorrow's society.  The Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School scholars will inspire greatness in others, allow their voices to be heard worldwide and create change through their actions and endeavors.  By giving our scholars a choice in how they learn and a voice in what they learn, we are building the foundation of critical thinkers that is needed in the best colleges and the 21st Century workplace.

  • NOVEMBER Update

    Happy November BLES families!

On Monday 11/4 we will have an Emergency Preparedness, Pivot to Remote Learning Practice Run. At 6:00 pm on Monday 11/4, all scholars should log on to Google classroom through Teach Hub and complete the assignment posted by their teacher. If you haven't already done so, please inform the teacher or any administrator about the device or log on issues your child is experiencing.

By now, you should have received your child's student profile sheet which includes their attendance, scores on the Beginning of Year assessments and the tiered level of interventions he/she will receive. Please review this sheet carefully in preparation for Thursday's Parent Teacher Conferences. Jot down any questions or concerns you have as well as suggestions.

Several academic and SEL intervention programs have already started during the day and after school. Selected lower grade scholars will receive permission slips this week for an AIS program focused on foundational reading skills.

There are only 15 instructional days this month but we will be laser focused on using student data to drive instruction. Frequent progress monitoring will help the teachers 1) evaluate the effectiveness of instruction and intervention and 2) quantify their scholars' rate of improvement or responsiveness to instruction/intervention.

It is very important that you check in periodically with teachers during their office hours or at dismissal to get a quick update on your child's progress. You'll be able to ask questions and teachers can give you practice materials to work on with your child at home.

Thank you to all of the parents and family members who attended our Character Day Performances and Gallery Walk. It is always great to see our classrooms, hallways and auditorium filled with families. As we approach the holiday season, there will be many other opportunities for you to join us. Look out for flyers and other communication from Mr. Watson and our P.T.A.
